Commercial playground spinners are a highly engaging addition to any outdoor play space, whether used as a standalone feature or integrated into a larger playground system. They are widely installed in parks, residential communities, schools, and tourist attractions, making them a versatile solution for various project requirements.

Designed for inclusive play, spinners provide rich sensory stimulation and are suitable for users of different ages, including children and even adults. Through spinning activities, children can improve balance, coordination, and depth perception, while also enhancing focus and overall emotional well-being. The rotational movement effectively stimulates the vestibular system, which can help children regulate their energy levels and achieve a calming effect.

From a user experience perspective, spinners and merry-go-rounds are among the most popular playground elements. Children are naturally drawn to the excitement of spinning, enjoying both the thrill and the sense of challenge it brings. This makes spinners an essential component for increasing playground engagement and encouraging repeat visits.

Plastic parts: LLDPE (Linear Low-density Polyethylene) from Sinopec which is world top 10 companies
Plastic: We use LLDPE (Linear Low-density Polyethylene), using the famous brand of Sinopec to ensure the product’s anti-UV, anti-brittle, anti-static, etc., and to ensure its non-toxic and safe
Temperature: The paint needs to reach 250-300℃ and the time is 30 minutes. If the temperature is too low, the plastic will not be completely melted, the surface will be rough and the strength will be poor. If the temperature is too high or the time is too long, it will easily cause material aging, discoloration or bubbles

Our galvanized steel pipes are designed to provide excellent protection against rust and corrosion, ensuring long-term durability in outdoor environments. The galvanized coating effectively enhances resistance to moisture, oxidation, and harsh weather conditions.

In addition, the surface treatment offers strong UV resistance and anti-aging performance, preventing discoloration such as yellowing over time while maintaining an attractive appearance. This ensures that all metal components remain structurally stable and visually appealing even after prolonged outdoor exposure.

With durable construction and compliance with international safety standards such as EN1176, our playground spinners ensure both safety and long-term performance in high-traffic environments.

Safety & Certifications

1. Primary Hazard – Centrifugal Force
The main hazard associated with rotating equipment is the centrifugal force generated during operation.Unlike the requirements defined in EN1176-1, for rotating equipment:The free space is the same as the falling space.Due to centrifugal force, users may be thrown off the equipment and move in an uncontrolled manner. Therefore:No obstacles are allowed within the falling/free space area
2.Free Space / Falling Space Requirements
Unless otherwise specified, the minimum safety distance shall be:
1.At least 2000 mm from the outer edge of the rotating platform
2.At least 2000 mm above the rotating platform (vertical clearance)
If installed near other playground equipment:Falling spaces must NOT overlap
3. Speed Limitation (Mechanically Driven Equipment)
For mechanically driven rotating equipment (e.g. pedal or handwheel driven):Maximum linear speed shall not exceed 5 m/s
Note:Non-mechanically driven spinners typically cannot reach this speed, as it exceeds the normal running speed of children.

4. Structural Safety Requirements
All components rotating around the central axis shall:Be free from burrs.Have rounded edges with a minimum radius of 5 mm

5. Non-Embedded Rotating Platforms (Above Ground Type)
Case 1: Clearance 60 mm – 110 mm
This clearance shall be maintained for at least 300 mm towards the axis.Other areas shall have a minimum clearance of ≥ 60 mm.The area under the platform (first 500 mm towards the axis) shall be smooth and even
Case 2: Clearance 110 mm – 400 mm (High Risk Zone)
This is a critical entrapment risk zone:Measures must be taken to prevent foot and leg entrapment.Gap control requirements:
< 89 mm → prevents foot entry
> 230 mm → prevents trapping
Protective solutions:Skirts / guards.Structural redesign to eliminate hazardous gaps
Case 3: Clearance > 400 mm
The area under the rotating platform shall be smooth and free of hazards
Rotating playground equipment must be designed to control centrifugal force risks, ensure a minimum 2-meter safety zone, and eliminate entrapment hazards—especially within the 110–400 mm clearance range—fully complying with EN1176 requirements.

Installation & Maintenance

There are primarily two installation methods:
Bolt-down / Surface Mount
Method: The equipment base is secured directly to a hardened surface (such as concrete or asphalt) using expansion bolts.
Features:
Quick installation; no excavation required.
Can be removed or relocated, but the bolts must be sufficiently secure when subjected to high centrifugal forces.
Requires a hard, level surface.
Suitable Scenarios: Hardened public spaces or temporary sites

Concrete Embedment Installation (Most Common, Highest Safety)
Method: Dig a pit beneath the equipment base, place the base inside, and secure it with concrete.
Features:
Extremely high stability, suitable for long-term outdoor use.
Generally suitable for steel or heavy-duty swivel chairs.
Difficult to move once installed.
Suitable Scenarios: Parks, schools, community playgrounds.
Precautions:
The pit depth and amount of concrete must comply with the equipment manual’s specifications; generally, the base must be fully embedded in the ground.
The surface must be flush with the ground to ensure user safety.

How to maintain playground merry go round

1. Routine Inspections (Daily or Weekly)
Equipment Structure Inspection
Check that the swivel chair’s seat, armrests, and base are secure.
Check for loose or missing bolts and nuts.
Confirm that the base is securely anchored to the floor (especially for concrete-embedded or bolted installations).
Moving Parts
Check that bearings and rotating parts operate smoothly.
Confirm that rotation is even, with no abnormal jamming or wobbling.
Safety Inspection
Check the area beneath or around the equipment for obstacles (branches, stones, debris).
Check the seat and handles for sharp edges, cracks, or wear.
Ensure rubber or plastic pads (anti-slip, impact-absorbing) are intact.
2. Periodic Maintenance (Monthly or Quarterly)
Lubrication
Apply oil or grease to rotating bearings, gears, or other moving parts to ensure smooth operation.
Use a waterproof lubricant suitable for outdoor playground equipment.
Rust and Corrosion Prevention
Inspect steel components for rust, peeling, or corrosion.
Apply rust-proof paint or a corrosion-resistant coating to exposed metal parts.
Fastener Inspection
Retighten bolts, nuts, and rivets to prevent loosening due to centrifugal force.
Ground and Anchoring
Check the concrete foundation for cracks.
Check that the bolt-anchored base is secure.

3. Specialized Maintenance (Semi-Annual or Annual)
Bearing Replacement
Replace rotating bearings based on usage frequency and wear.
Seat/Handle Replacement
Promptly replace plastic, rubber, or padded seats that are damaged or deteriorated.
Structural Inspection
Conduct load testing or safety assessments on the entire swing structure.
Safety Standard Review
Verify that the equipment complies with the latest EN1176 or local playground equipment safety standards.

FAQ

1: What age group is the spinning chair suitable for?
Children aged 3 and older can use it.

2: What is the maximum weight capacity of the spinning chair?
Depending on the design, single-person models typically have a weight capacity of 30–50 kg, while multi-person models can support 100–150 kg. Please do not exceed the weight limit.

3: Can it be installed on uneven ground?
Not recommended. Swivel chairs must be installed on a flat, solid surface (such as concrete or paved ground) to ensure stability and safety.

4: What is the production lead time?
Generally 7–15 days.

5: What safety precautions should be followed during use?
Children must sit securely and hold onto the handles; standing or climbing over the seat is not permitted. Maintain at least 1.5–2 meters of clear space around the carousel to prevent falls. Regularly inspect the seat, handles, bearings, and other components for looseness or damage.
